Course requirements

  • Prior to attending training, trainees are required to have access to an ADOS-2 manual.
  • ADOS-2 kits and manuals are available through Western Psychological Services at 1-800-648-8857 or at https://www.wpspublish.com/ados-2-autism-diagnostic-observation-schedule-second-edition.

About the course

  • This course will take place via Zoom. This workshop will span three consecutive days and will consist of a series of videoconference lectures scheduled from 8am to 4.30pm (all times Pacific). The course covers ADOS-2 Modules 1-4 and the Toddler Module.
Learning objectives: 
  • Explain Use of the ADOS-2
  • Discuss questions about the introduction to the ADOS-2
  • Explain the administration of modules 3 and 4
  • Revise Module 3/4 codes
  • Apply the coding explained on the watched videos
  • Discuss coding results and review administration of modules 3 and 4
  • Discuss scoring issues; Wrap up discussion
  • Explain the administration of modules 1 and 2
  • Discuss questions about modules 1 and 2
  • Discuss the administration of modules 1 and 2
  • Demonstrate ADOS-2 modules 1 and 2 administration with videos as an example.
  • Revise scoring from Module 1 or 2.
  • Apply the coding explained on the watched videos
  • Discuss Module 1/2 administration and scoring
  • Discuss questions about Module 1 and 2 administration
  • Discuss psychometrics and Appropriate use of the ADOS-2
  • Describe clinical Diagnosis of ASD in Toddlers
  • Discuss questions about the Toddler Module

About the trainer

Dr. Sarah Dufek

Sarah Dufek, PhD, BCBA-D is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology in Psychiatry at the University of California, Davis. She is a licensed psychologist and board-certified behavior analyst with expertise in the assessment and treatment of ASD across the lifespan. She has been working with children, adolescents, and adults with ASD and related developmental disabilities in clinical and research contexts since 2000. During her postdoctoral training and subsequent faculty appointment at Weill Cornell Medical College, she received comprehensive training in the assessment and diagnosis of ASD and related conditions. She became a trainer for both the Autism Diagnostic Interview- Revised (ADI-R) and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) in 2014. You can see her publications here.
